Bamboo Abode Antiques Bug in Where Winds Meet – Why You’re Stuck at 1/2 (And How to Fix It)

So you’ve cleared Bamboo Abode, grabbed every chest in sight, and the game still says 1/2 antiques.
Yep—annoying. And no, you’re not missing something obvious… but you are missing something the game never explains.

Good news: this is a super common issue, and once you know what the game is actually asking for, it’s an easy fix.

If you’ve been running in circles rechecking the map, reopening the exploration menu, or wondering if your save bugged out, you’re definitely not alone. A lot of players hit this exact wall because Where Winds Meet doesn’t clearly tell you what counts as a Bamboo Abode antique, or where those antiques are actually tied to in the world. The result? Tons of confusion, a misleading 1/2 counter, and the feeling that the game is trolling you after hours of exploration. Thankfully, there is a clear explanation—and once you know it, you can fix the problem without restarting or waiting for a patch.

Quick Answer (If You Just Want the Fix)

Bamboo Abode needs two specific antiques to fully complete its Sentient Beings progress in Where Winds Meet:

  • Jiang Wulang’s Old Spear, which you receive right at the very start of the main story
  • A hidden statue-head interaction located in the underground area of General’s Shrine

If either one of these doesn’t properly register, Bamboo Abode will stay stuck at 1/2 antiques, no matter how thoroughly you’ve explored the area. This is why so many players get confused—especially if you already picked up the Ritual Crown, which feels like it should count but doesn’t. The game never clearly explains this requirement, so unless both antiques are correctly tracked in your inventory and exploration progress, Bamboo Abode simply won’t complete.

Why This Happens (And Why It Feels Like a Bug)

The frustrating part is that this isn’t really a bug—it’s more a case of bad communication and unclear design.

  • The game never tells you exactly which antiques Bamboo Abode requires
  • One of them comes from the opening main quest, so most players assume it’s already counted and never think to double-check
  • The other is tied to a very specific environmental interaction, not a chest or reward, which makes it easy to miss entirely
  • And to top it all off, the Ritual Crown doesn’t count, even though a lot of guides and player discussions suggest that it should

Put all of that together, and it’s no surprise players think something is broken. The tracker gives you almost no useful feedback, so unless you already know what to look for, it genuinely feels like the game bugged out. In reality, it’s just hidden progression with zero explanation, which is why so many people get stuck at 1/2 in Where Winds Meet.

The Two Antiques Bamboo Abode Actually Needs

1. Jiang Wulang’s Old Spear (Early Story Item)

You get Jiang Wulang’s Old Spear right at the beginning of the game during the main story. Because it’s part of the opening quest, most players never think twice about it.

The usual assumption is:

“I definitely picked that up, so it must already count.”

And that’s where the problem starts.

Here’s the catch: it only counts if the game has properly registered it as an antique. That means it needs to show up specifically in your Antiques / Traceable inventory tab. If it’s missing there, Bamboo Abode will stay incomplete no matter how much else you’ve done.

What to do:

  • Open your inventory
  • Switch to the Antiques / Traceable filter
  • Check that Jiang Wulang’s Old Spear is listed

If it isn’t showing up in that tab, the game doesn’t consider the requirement fulfilled, and Bamboo Abode will stay stuck at 1/2 antiques in Where Winds Meet.

2. The Statue Head in General’s Shrine (The One Everyone Misses)

This is the big one, and it’s where most players get stuck.

The second Bamboo Abode antique is hidden in the underground section of General’s Shrine—even though, for some reason, it’s still tracked under Bamboo Abode. That mismatch alone causes a ton of confusion.

Here’s what trips people up:

  • It’s not a chest
  • It’s not an enemy drop
  • You don’t get it automatically just by entering the area

Instead, you have to climb or jump onto a large statue head in the underground shrine and manually trigger an interaction. If you never see the interact prompt, the antique never registers, and Bamboo Abode stays stuck at 1/2.

Tip:
The interaction can be a little finicky. Move around on top of the statue head, adjust your position and camera angle, and don’t assume it’s bugged right away. Many players only get the prompt after standing in a very specific spot.

This single missed interaction is the most common reason Bamboo Abode won’t complete in Where Winds Meet.

What About the Ritual Crown?

This is where most guides — and a lot of player advice — get it wrong.

The Ritual Crown does not count as one of the two Bamboo Abode antiques. You can pick it up, equip it, and even finish the entire area, and Bamboo Abode can still sit stubbornly at 1/2. Because the game never explains this clearly, it’s easy to assume something is broken when, in reality, it’s just incredibly misleading. That misunderstanding is the main reason this issue gets labeled as a “bug” across the community.

Still Stuck? Try This

If you’re confident you’ve collected both required antiques but the tracker still refuses to update, try the following:

  • Leave the area and return later
  • Reload your save
  • Go back into the underground section of General’s Shrine and re-interact with the statue head
  • Try approaching or climbing the statue from a different angle

In most cases, re-triggering the statue interaction is what finally makes the progress register and pushes Bamboo Abode to 2/2 antiques in Where Winds Meet.

Is This a Bug?

Not really — but it is a case of poor design.

The game technically works as intended, but it does a terrible job of explaining itself. Where Winds Meet never clearly communicates what Bamboo Abode actually needs, which leads to a lot of unnecessary confusion.

The main problems are that the game:

  • Doesn’t clearly label which antiques are required for each area
  • Mixes region tracking, tying a General’s Shrine interaction to Bamboo Abode progress
  • Hides progression behind silent environmental interactions with no prompts or guidance

So while nothing is truly broken under the hood, it absolutely feels broken from a player’s perspective. If you’re stuck at 1/2, you’re not doing anything wrong — the game just doesn’t give you the information you need unless you already know where to look.

Checklist

✔ Check Antiques tab for Jiang Wulang’s Old Spear
✔ Go underground in General’s Shrine
✔ Climb onto the statue head and interact
✔ Reload or re-enter if it doesn’t update

Do that, and Bamboo Abode should finally flip to 2/2.
